The Wait is Over

We will have an update for our anxious blog-viewers very soon. We've had to put everything on hold since the seventh Harry Potter book was delivered on Saturday. I'm happy to report, however, that we are plowing through it, and have only 121 pages left to get through. We should be finishing it up tonight. Then we will get to all the things we've neglected over the past 4 days, our blog being one of them.

The Kansas City Trip...

...or, "How I Drove 1700 Miles to End Up Back in Indianapolis."

Last Wednesday, Megan and I got in the car and drove to Kansas City to meet up with my dad, the Kansas City McCains (Ken, Courtney, Megan, and Mary) and the Gustins (Rob, Kelly, Madison, Jacob, and Jillian). To give you a brief overview of the trip:

• Wednesday - Leave Indianapolis, drive to Kansas City.
  
• Thursday - Everyone drive to Nebraska, meet up with my Uncle Hal and Aunt Marty. Look at a farm.
• Friday - One group goes to western Nebraska to look at another farm, one group goes back to Kansas City. Megan, Aunt Marty and I go visit the Jarmans (Megan's parent's friends) and Lauritzen Botanical Gardens in Omaha (run by Megan's mom's cousin). We then drive to Salina, Kansas.
• Saturday - Everyone drives to Salina. Most of the group goes to the zoo. That evening, everyone except Uncle Hal and Aunt Marty return to Kansas City.
• Sunday - Leave Kansas City, return to Indianapolis.

It was a lot of driving, but we did enjoy ourselves quite a bit. We got to spend time with the McCains and Gustins, got to see some of Megan's family, and visited Uncle Hal and Aunt Marty's new house. Here are a couple of pictures to prove we aren't lying:

Finally! Photos from our Alabama trip! We spent four fantastic days with Steph, Richard and Sarah Kate both in Huntsville and at their lake house in Rogersville, AL. It was very peaceful (as long as it was raining) and everyone had a lot of fun.

Saturday, Richard played in a soccer tournament in Birmingham, so the rest of the gang took the boat out on the lake.

While Megan modeled the latest fashion in maternity swimwear back on the boat.

On Sunday, we waited out a rainstorm and got a lot of reading done. Brian came over to join us and brought his friend Pete, so the boys all watched some silly movie about cars (Talladega Nights) while the girls all took a nap. Once the thunderstorm had moved on through, however, we went back out on the boat.

And Megan enjoyed the breeze on the boat.

We had an awesome time and managed to avoid returning to Indiana sunburned and bug-bitten. Yay for sunscreen and bug spray!!

Happy Fourth of July! Excuse us while we experience technical difficulties with our computer. I know you're all anxiously awaiting photos from our recent trip to Alabama, and as soon as we figure out what's going on with our photo program/monitor, we will get those pictures up.

I hope everyone has a safe and healthy holiday. Glenn and I will be perking up our front yard with a bit of gardening and landscaping and also trying to make the ducks feel more comfortable in their new home (the baby's bathroom). We will be posting pictures of those efforts as well as a new belly shot for those curious about the belly's progress as soon as we get our technical difficulties worked out. (I guess that is on our to-do list today as well.)

In the meantime, a suggestion for your holiday... If it is raining where you are, like it is supposed to do here (fingers crossed for rain) go see the movie, "Knocked Up." It is hilarious and Glenn actually fell out of his chair laughing at some points. However, I should mention that it's probably not appropriate for anyone in the 4 foot and under crowd. (Glenn would like me to say that sadly, this leaves Kelly out.)
